McDougald Terrace, a multifamily community, was completed in 1953 and is the largest conventional public housing community in Durham. This 360 apartment community was named after the late R.L. McDougald, who was an outstanding Durham pioneer and community leader. McDougald Terrace is located in the southeast section of Durham.

Generally, households earning up to the income limit in the table below for their household size are eligible for units participating in a HUD rental assistance program in Durham but actual income limits may differ for units at Mcdougald Terrace.

Since this property is owned and managed by a Public Housing Authority, all of the rents at this property are based on tenant incomes. Tenants will make a monthly contribution toward rent equal to 30% of their adjusted income. A housing authority may establish a minimum rent of up to $50.
