Townsend Park Homes is a 158 unit senior high rise building consisting of one bedroom apartments. Conveniently located on the CDTA bus line, Townsend Park Homes is minutes away from downtown Albany, the major shopping malls and supermarkets: ShopRite, Price Chopper and Hannaford. A free shuttle bus picks up residents weekly for their grocery shopping at Price Chopper. There are onsite laundry facilities and a computer lab.
In recent years Townsend Park has undergone renovations to the elevator system, remodeling of the main floor and upper floors, new window installation in all apartments, upgrade to the heating system and upgrade to the fire prevention system.
Subsidized by HUD, rent is based on 30% of a resident’s income and includes heat and electric. There is an additional fee for air conditioning. The age requirement is 62 and older for seniors and 55 and older if a resident is disabled.
Community Room
The community room is open daily and features an outdoor patio, a large screen LCD TV for entertainment and two internet-enabled PCs for work and research. It is here that residents may partake in congregate lunch Monday – Friday. For a small fee, residents may reserve the community room for private parties.
Senior Services of Albany offers their counseling services twice monthly. Services provided include assisting residents with Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid, medical transportation, home care services and other social/health/welfare issues pertaining to seniors.
Generally, households earning up to the income limit in the table below for their household size are eligible for units participating in a HUD rental assistance program in Albany but actual income limits may differ for units at Townsend Park Homes.

Since this property is owned and managed by a Public Housing Authority, all of the rents at this property are based on tenant incomes. Tenants will make a monthly contribution toward rent equal to 30% of their adjusted income. A housing authority may establish a minimum rent of up to $50.
