Olga Village

722 W Washington St, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53204

Olga Village is a landmark housing community dedicated to providing affordable and environmentally-sustainable living options for Milwaukee’s seniors. Built on the campus of the United Community Center (UCC) on Milwaukee’s south side, Olga Village provides 37 accessible 1- and 2-bedroom apartments in an active, bilingual and culturally-enriched environment. There’s no need for Olga Village’s residents to step outside to enjoy the many programs and services of the UCC Senior Center because the two buildings are connected. The apartment building was completed in 2010 and has been received Silver Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for its many energy-efficient and eco-friendly features, including a green roof and solar-powered water heating system.

Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC)

Since this property has received funding in part through the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program, a certain number of units are set aside for lower income households. Households must earn either less than 50% or 60% of the area median income (depending on the set-aside option chosen by the property owner) to qualify for these units. Rents in these units are capped at a maximum of 30% of the set-aside area median income (adjusted for unit size). Some rental units in this property may not be subject to LIHTC and therefore have higher rents and no maximum household income requirement.

Public Housing

Since this property is owned and managed by a Public Housing Authority, all of the rents at this property are based on tenant incomes. Tenants will make a monthly contribution toward rent equal to 30% of their adjusted income. A housing authority may establish a minimum rent of up to $50.
