Open: Scattered Sites Public Housing

The Wausau Community Development Authority (WCDA) is accepting Public Housing waiting list applications for Scattered Site Apartments since at least September, 2015, until further notice.

Please note: According to the WCDA, "The program offers 46 non-smoking duplexes and single family homes scattered throughout the City of Wausau.  There are one, two, three and four bedroom single family homes and duplexes available."

To apply while the waitlist is open, print the paper application.

Once the paper application is completed, it must be: turned it to the WCDA office, located at 550 E. Thomas Street, Wausau, WI 54403-6442.

Open: Riverview Terrace, Affordable Assisted Living Senior

The Wausau Community Development Authority (WCDA) is accepting Senior Affordable Assisted Living waiting list applications for Riverview Terrace Apartments from the earliest confirmed date of July 22, 2022, until further notice.

  • Riverview Terrace Assisted Living is a Residential Care Apartment Complex (RCAC) licensed to provide each resident up to 28 hours per week of supportive, personal and nursing services. To be eligible for Riverview Terrace, an individual must be 62 years of age or older and successfully complete a functional assessment conducted through the WCDA. 

There are two ways to apply while the waitlist is open:

  1. Print the paper application.
  2. Pick up an application from WCDA, located at 540 E. Thomas Street, Wausau, WI 54403.

Once the application has been completed, it must be returned to the WCDA, address mentioned above.

The maximum income limit for each household size are as follows:

  • 1 Person $51,950
  • 2 Persons $59,350

There are no preferences.

Selected applicants will be placed on the waiting list by date and time the application is received.

Open: Riverview Towers, Near Elderly and Disabled Project-Based

The Wausau Community Development Authority (WCDA) Near Elderly and Disabled waiting list for 1-Bedroom apartments at Riverview Towers is currently open.

The WCDA is accepting applications for this waiting list from the earliest confirmed date of July 22, 2022, until further notice.

To apply during the opening period, print the paper application.

Once the application has been completed, it must be returned to the WCDA office, located at 540 E. Thomas Street, Wausau, WI 54403.

The maximum income limit for each household size are as follows:

  • 1 Person $38,940
  • 2 Persons $44,520

There are no preferences.

Selected applicants will be placed on the waiting list by date and time the application is received.

Closed: Wausau, Wisconsin Section 8 Voucher

The Wausau Community Development Authority (WCDA) last accepted Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from March 25, 2024, until April 12, 2024. There is no notice when this waiting list will reopen.

There were two ways to apply while the waitlist was open:

  1. Print the paper application that was available on the WCDA website.
  2. Pick up the application from the WCDA office.

Once the application was completed, it was be either:

  1. Hand delivered to the WCDA office.
  2. Mailed to the WCDA office.
  3. Faxed to the WCDA.
  4. Emailed to WCDA staff.

Preferences have not been confirmed.

Selected applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery.
