The Spokane Housing Authority (SHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Homeownership waiting list is currently closed. Applications were last accepted from September 1st, 2019, until September 15th, 2019.

Please note: According to the SHA, "To qualify you must:

  • Be a current Housing Choice Voucher participant for at least one full year.
  • Have copy of the First Time Homebuyer's Certificate to present to SHA for each member of the household over the age of 18 years."
  • According to a SHA representative, the First Time Homebuyer's Certificate is given once a person has completed the homeownership course.

There were two ways to apply during the opening period:

  1. Submit electronic copies of the certificates
  2. Bring the certificates into SHA during normal business hours.

This waiting list had the following preferences: Public housing residents affected by a RAD conversion

Selected applicants were placed on the waiting list by date and time the application was received, weighed by order of preferences.

Closed: Pope Francis Haven Apartments Section 8 Project-Based Voucher

The Spokane Housing Authority (SHA) Section 8 Project Based Voucher waiting list for 2 and 3-Bedroom apartments at Pope Francis Haven Apartments is currently closed. Applications were last accepted from July 6, 2020, until until June 25, 2021. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

  • Pope Francis Haven Apartments is located at 16412 E Sprague Ave Spokane Valley, WA 99037. This complex opened in 2017 and offers 51 service enriched two and three bedroom units for homeless families with children.

There were five ways to apply during the opening period: 

  1. Print the online paper application.
  2. Pick up a paper application from the Pope Francis Haven Apartments leasing office.
  3. Call the Pope Francis Haven Apartments leasing office.
  4. Email the SHA.
  5. Call the Homeless Family Coordinated Assessment.

Preferences have not yet been confirmed.

Selected applicants were placed on the waiting list by date and time the application was received, weighed by order of preferences.

Closed: Homeyard Cottages Section 8 Project-Based Voucher

The Spokane Housing Authority (SHA) Section 8 Project Based Voucher waiting list for Studio, 1, 2 and 3-Bedroom apartments at Homeyard Cottages is closed.

The SHA last accepted applications for this waiting list from January 25, 2023, until February 3, 2023. there is no notice when this waiting list will reopen.

  • Homeyard Cottages, 3080 N Hemlock St, Spokane, WA  – (4) Studio; (3) 1-bedroom; (9) 2-bedroom; (3) 3-bedroom

There were five ways to apply during the opening period:

  1. Print the paper application online.
  2. Complete an application in person at the SHA office.
  3. Pick up an application at any of the properties locations or visiting the properties leasing office.
  4. Call SHA office.
  5. Email SHA.

Once the paper application was completed, it was either:

  1. Dropped off at the SHA office or to the SHA Customer Service Staff.
  2. Placed in the Dropbox outside the SHA office.
  3. Mailed to the SHA office.
  4. Dropped off at any of the Apartments listed above, but encouraged to submit to the Spokane Housing Authority location.

This waiting list had the following preferences: Households with Dependents/Homeless.
