Open: 2 and 3-Bedroom Public Housing

The Murfreesboro Housing Authority (MHA) Public Housing waiting list for 2 and 3-Bedroom units is currently open, from February 1, 2018, until further notice.

There are two ways to apply:

  1. Open and print the application online. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and select the "Download the Affordable Housing Pre-Application Here" link.
  2. Pick up an application at the MHA office, located at 415 North Maple Street, Murfreesboro, TN 37130; from 7:30 am until 4:00 pm CT; Monday-Friday.

Once the application has been completed, it must be mailed or hand delivered to the address above.

Preferences have not yet been confirmed.

It is not known how selected applicants will be placed on the waiting list.

Reasonable Accommodation

Closed: Rutherford County, Tennessee Section 8 Voucher

The Murfreesboro Housing Authority (MHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed. It was last open for five days in July, 2019. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

Please note: This waiting list was previously confirmed to close at 11:59 pm CT on July 19, 2019. As of 1:00 pm on July 19, 2019, the online application states that the waiting list is closed.

To apply during the opening period, applicants were required to complete the online application.

This waiting list had the following preferences:

  • Elderly or persons with disabilities who are residents of Rutherford County
  • Applicants with an adult family member who is a resident of Rutherford County and employed in Rutherford County or the surrounding counties; employed full time (30 hrs per week) and employed continuously for minimum of 6 months within the 12 months prior to application
  • Displaced person – due to government action or federally declared disaster
  • Any applicant who does not meet the above definitions and is not currently in subsidized housing

Selected applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery, by order of preferences.
