West End Apartments is managed by Avesta Housing.

The West End Apartments is an opportunity to jumpstart a new urban village in South Portland's West End Neighborhood. The project was in response to the City of South Portland's recent West End master planning effort. The location is just minutes from major employment centers like downtown Portland, the Maine Mall, and the Portland Jetport with easy access to public transportation and Interstate 295. The project also provides excellent proximity to a number of amenities including grocery stores, playground, the Portland Trail Network, pharmacies, and a variety of other retail options.

Once completed the West End Apartments will consist of 64 family apartments ranging in size from studios to three (3)-bedroom units. Apartments will be made available to both market rate renters and as income restricted units. Residents will have access to a large community room, an outdoor plaza, on-site laundry, and indoor bike storage. The ground floor will be home to a convenience store, restaurant, and the Opportunity Alliance's "The Hub".

Since this property has received funding in part through the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program, a certain number of units are set aside for lower income households. Households must earn either less than 50% or 60% of the area median income (depending on the set-aside option chosen by the property owner) to qualify for these units. Rents in these units are capped at a maximum of 30% of the set-aside area median income (adjusted for unit size). Some rental units in this property may not be subject to LIHTC and therefore have higher rents and no maximum household income requirement.
