My Sisters’ Place provides Supportive Housing for low-income individuals and families who were formerly homeless and unable to hold their own lease. Through the Mary Seymour Place Apartments and Sue Ann Shay Place Apartments, My Sisters' Place provides housing and support services for those who meet one or more of the following criteria: low income, living with a mental illness, and/or currently homeless.
My Sisters’ Place also provides services to men and women with psychiatric disabilities, through the Scattered Site Program, helping them to live in their own apartments located throughout the Hartford area, with a goal of helping participants gain and maintain self-sufficiency.
My Sisters' Place is also expanding its Transitional Housing Program which serves women experiencing chronic homelessness.
In addition to the residential programs described above, My Sisters' Place also has Housing Coordination Programs, which provide a variety of resources including rent, subsidies, security deposits, and loans for individuals with psychiatric disabilities. The Housing Coordinator at My Sisters’ Place assists in negotiating the local housing market, tenants rights and responsibilities training, and acts as a liaison between landlords and tenants.
