The Uptown Apartments is managed by Forest City Management.

New LEED Silver certified apartment community located in downtown Oakland, CA with studio, 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom and 3 bedroom apartments available at reduced rents for qualified moderate income households. The Uptown is located in the Arts and Entertainment District, across from Fox Theater, just 2 blocks to BART and 12 minutes to SF by BART. All prospective households must meet the credit and criminal background qualifications in order to qualify. Disabled and other applicants are encouraged to apply. Income and other restrictions apply. SECTION 8 and other subsidized voucher holders are welcome to apply. Equal Opportunity Provider.

Security deposits are required: Studios and 1 Bedrooms require a $500 deposit, 2 Bedrooms require a $700 deposit and 3 bedrooms require a $900 deposit.

Parking is an additional $100 per month for the first space and there is a waiting list for parking.

This property has both an affordable housing component and a Below Market Rate component. As of March 2017, there is a waiting list for the affordable housing units and it is presently closed. Management does not anticipate opening it in the immediate future. The waiting list for the Below Market Rate units is open with limited availability.

The rent for the BMR 2 bedroom is $2,277.00 per month and to qualify the household will need to make $54,468 gross annually. The rent for the BMR 3 bedroom is $2,627.00 per month and to qualify the household will need to make $63,048 gross annually.

Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC)

Since this property has received funding in part through the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program, a certain number of units are set aside for lower income households. Households must earn either less than 50% or 60% of the area median income (depending on the set-aside option chosen by the property owner) to qualify for these units. Rents in these units are capped at a maximum of 30% of the set-aside area median income (adjusted for unit size). Some rental units in this property may not be subject to LIHTC and therefore have higher rents and no maximum household income requirement.
