Open: Clark County, Washington Limited Section 8 Voucher

The Vancouver Housing Authority (VHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently open on a limited basis. Applications are being accepted from October 16, 2015, until further notice.

Please note: According to the VHA, this waiting list is only open to those who qualify for the following preference:

"Housing Solutions Center referral: At the time you apply you must be literally homeless or fleeing domestic violence. Housing Solutions Center will conduct an assessment of your housing status and provide a referral code if you qualify. To begin the assessment and referral process, please call the Housing Solutions Center at 360-695-9677"

To apply during the opening period, complete the online application. Select "Housing Choice Voucher" from the list, and then select the box that says, "Housing Choice Voucher: Housing Choice Voucher, To Apply You Will Need A Referral Code." The application is available in English, Spanish, and Russian.

This waiting list has the following preferences:

  • If you, or anyone in your household, is disabled and between 18 and 61 years old.
  • If you are homeless, transitioning from a hospital or a care facility, or you will soon be homeless, or you are at risk of institutionalization because you are not able to pay rent.
  • There are children in your household under 18 years old
  • The head of household or co-head or spouse is 62 or older
  • The head of household or co-head or spouse a disabled person
  • Applicants who do not currently receive any kind of housing subsidy

Open: Clark County, Washington Mainstream Voucher

The Vancouver Housing Authority (VHA) Mainstream Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently open. Applications are being accepted since at least March, 2020, until further notice.

Please note: According to the VHA, this waiting list is only open to those who qualify for the following preference:

"Mainstream Vouchers - One or more people in the family must meet all of the following at the time of application and at the time of selection from the waitlist:

  • Disabled (if you are not receiving SSI, you will need to be able to verify your disability through a qualified professional at the time you are selected from the waiting list), and
  • 18 years or older, and
  • Under 62 years old, and
  • Homeless. For Mainstream vouchers the definition of homeless includes literally homeless (not living in a place meant for human habitation), or transitioning from a care facility or hospital , or at risk of institutionalization because of a lack of housing, or at risk of homelessness (you have received a notice to move within 14 days), or fleeing domestic violence.

Although Mainstream vouchers allow direct application, please do not apply unless you meet all of the above criteria. If you apply but do not qualify, you will not receive housing assistance."

To apply during the opening period, complete the online application. Select "Housing Choice Voucher" from the list, and then select the box that says, "Housing Choice Voucher: Mainstream." The application is available in English, Spanish, and Russian.

The Vancouver Housing Authority (VHA) waiting list for 1-Bedroom Special Needs apartments at Azalea Place Apartments is currently open. Applications are being accepted from August 15, 2019, until further notice.

According to VHA, "These 1 bedroom units are in a non-smoking building and are designated for persons with chronic mental illness."

Azalea Place, is located at 9002 NE 15th Avenue, Vancouver WA 98665.

There are two ways to apply during the opening period:
