The Housing Authority of Thurston County (HATC) last accepted Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from November 27, 2023, until December 10, 2023. This waiting list was last open in January, 2020. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

To apply while the waiting list was open, applicants were required to complete the online application.

This waiting list had the following preferences:

  • Thurston County residents and to those who work in Thurston County
  • Families with minor or disabled adult children
  • Single Individuals who are pregnant
  • Single adults or couples who are age 50+
  • Single adults or couples who are disabled
  • Single individuals or couples who are victims of Domestic Violence or hate crimes
  • Single individuals or families who are experiencing homelessness

The maximum income limits for each household size were as follows:

  • 1 person $35,900 | 5 persons $55,350
  • 2 persons $41,000 | 6 persons $59,450
  • 3 persons $46,150 | 7 persons $63,550
  • 4 persons $51,250 | 8 persons $67,650

1,700 applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery, weighed by order of preferences.

Closed: Housing Authority of Thurston County Non-Elderly Disabled Voucher

The Housing Authority of Thurston County (HATC) Mainstream (Non-Elderly Disabled) Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed. It was last open for two days in May, 2019. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

Please note: According to the HATC, "You may be eligible if:

  • You or someone in your household has a documented disability,
    and
  • The person with a disability is between the ages of 18 and 61 years,
    and
  • That person is either transitioning out of an institutional or other segregating setting; or at risk of institutionalization; or homeless; or at risk of becoming homeless.

One person in the applicant household must meet all three of the above criteria."

To apply during the opening period, applicants were required to download and print the application online.

Once the application was completed, it must have been either:

  1. Dropped off at the HATC office.
  2. Mailed to the HATC office and postmarked by May 10, 2019.
  3. Emailed to the HATC.

This waiting list had the following preferences: Live or work in the Thurston County.

125 applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery.
