Open: Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority Public Housing

The Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority (CRHA) is accepting Public Housing waiting list applications from July 17, 2017, until further notice.

There are two ways to apply while the waiting list is open:

  1. Complete the online application.
  2. Print the paper application available. Select the "CRHA PH Application" link.

Once the paper application has been completed, it must be: returned to the CRHA Rental Office at 500 1st St. South, Charlottesville, VA 22902.

This waiting list has the following preferences:

  • Live or work within the city of Charlottesville VA
  • Homeless
  • Elderly
  • Disabled

Selected applicants will be placed on the waiting list by date and time the application is received, weighed by order of preferences.

Open: Crescent Halls Senior / Disabled Public Housing

The Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority (CRHA) is accepting Senior/Disabled Public Housing waiting list applications at Crescent Halls apartments from July 17, 2017, until further notice.

There are two ways to apply while the waiting list is open:

  1. Complete the online application.
  2. Print the paper application. Select the "CRHA PH Application" link.

Once the paper application has been completed, it must be: returned to the CRHA Rental Office at 500 1st St. South, Charlottesville, VA 22902.

Closed: Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority Mainstream Voucher

The Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority (CRHA) Section 8 Mainstream Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed. Applications were last accepted from January 29, 2021, until February 26, 2021. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

Please note: This waiting list had the following requirements:

  • Have a family member who is disabled, aged 18 but not yet 62.
  • Currently experiencing homelessness or currently in a rapid re-housing or permanent supportive housing program.
  • Certified as meeting requirement #2 by the Thomas Jefferson Area Coalition for the Homeless (TJACH) Continuum of Care (CoC) Coordinated Entry System via the Haven.

There were three ways to apply during the opening period: 

  1. Pick up an application from the CRHA rental office.
  2. Print the online paper application..
  3. Call the CRHA.

Once the application was completed, it was either:

  1. Mailed to the Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority.
  2. Emailed to the CRHA.
  3. Faxed to the CRHA.
  4. Dropped off in person at the CRHA.

Preferences have not yet been confirmed.

It was not known how applicants will be placed on the waiting list.
