The Alexandria Redevelopment and Housing Authority (ARHA) Mainstream Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed. Applications were last accepted from June 1, 2020, until June 2, 2020. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

Please note: This waiting list was only for individuals/family member(s) who have non-elderly (under age 62) disabled household member(s) who is/are:

  • Currently experiencing homelessness OR
  • Currently a client in a permanent supportive housing or rapid re-housing program.

There were two ways to apply during the opening period:

  1. Compete the online application.
  2. Print the paper application that was available online.

Once the application was completed, it was either:

  1. Emailed to the ARHA.
  2. Dropped off at the ARHA’s main office.

This waiting list had the following preferences:

  • Elderly (7 points)
  • Disabled (6 points)
  • Currently experiencing homelessness (6 points)
  • Currently a client in a permanent supportive housing or rapid rehousing project (6 points)
  • Live in City of Alexandria & unemployed (2 Points)
  • Live in City of Alexandria and work (anywhere) (5 points)
  • Do not live but work in City of Alexandria (5 points)
  • Do not live or work in City of Alexandria but, employed (3 points)

Selected applicants were placed on the waiting list by date and time the application is received, weighed by order of preferences.

The Alexandria Redevelopment and Housing Authority (ARHA) Elderly/Disabled Public Housing waiting list is currently closed. Applications were last accepted from September 4, 2018, until September 28, 2018. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

The Elderly/Disabled Public Housing program offers efficiency and 1-Bedroom units.

There were four ways to apply during the opening period:

  3. Call to request an application by mail.
  4. Send an email to request an application by mail.

Once the paper application has been completed, it must have been mailed to the ARHA office.
