Closed: Multi-County, Texas Section 8 Voucher

The Ark-Tex Council of Governments (ATCOG) last accepted Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications for one day only on May 20, 2024. There is no notice when this waiting will reopen.

This waiting list had the following preferences: 

  • Families that have been terminated from ATCOG’s HCV program due to insufficient program funding.
  • Families participating in an educational internship program, defined as:
    • A family whose head of household, spouse, or co-head is a participant in an internship program of a public agency or non-profit within the PHA’s jurisdiction who is participating in that program for a minimum of 26 hours a week.
  • Working families defined as:
    • A family whose head of household, spouse, or co-head has worked at 9 months (defined as at least 1,365 hours) in the twelve months prior to being selected from the waiting list
    • A family whose head of household is elderly or disabled qualifies for the working preference
    • A family with both a head of household and either a spouse or co-head will qualify for the working preference only if both the head of household and spouse/co-head is either elderly or disabled.
  • Families in which the head of household or spouse / cohead is a veteran.

Selected applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery, by order of preferences.

To apply while the waitlist was open, applicants were required to complete the online application.

The Ark-Tex Council of Governments (ATCOG) last accepted Section 8 Project Based Voucher waiting list applications for apartments at Mt. Pleasant from the earliest confirmed open date of September 5, 2023, until the earliest confirmed closed date of May 7, 2024. There is no notice when this waiting list will reopen.

To apply while the waitlist was open, applicants were required to complete the online application.

This waiting list had the following preferences:

  • Any family that has been terminated from ATCOG's HCV program due to insufficient program funding.
  • A family whose HOH, spouse, or co-head is a participant in an internship program of a public or non-profit agency within the PHA's jurisdiction for a minimum of 26 hrs. a week.
  • A family whose HOH, spouse, or co-head has worked at 9 months in the 12 months prior.
  • A veteran is a person that served in the active military, naval, or air service who was discharged/released honorable. A surviving spouse of a veteran who has not remarried.
  • Live, work or go to school in Bowie, Camp, Cass, Delta, Franklin, Hopkins, Lamar, Morris, Red River, Titus, Upshur, Wood.
  • The applicants self-certify the options that apply to them (homeless, victim of domestic violence, or Hope First participant).
  • Families living in SAFE T
  • Family whose HOH is elderly or disabled.
  • Family with both a HOH and either a spouse/co-head is elderly or disabled
