Closed: Reading, Pennsylvania Section 8 Voucher

The Reading Housing Authority (RHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed. It was last open for eight days in July, 2019; and for 11 days in December, 2015. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

There were four ways to apply during the opening period:

1. Complete the online application.
2. Open and print the application online. The application was available in English, and Spanish.
3. Download and print the application online.
4. Call to request an application by mail. 

Once the application was completed, it must have been postmarked between July 23 and July 30; and mailed to the Reading Housing Authority.

This waiting list had the following preferences: Live, work or attend school in the City of Reading.

Selected applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery, by order of preferences.

Closed: Rhodes, Eisenhower, Hubert Apartments, Kennedy, Franklin Towers and Hensler Homes Public Housing

The Reading Housing Authority (RHA) last accepted Family Public Housing waiting list applications for Studio apartments at Rhodes, Eisenhower, Hubert Apartments, Kennedy, Franklin Towers and Hensler Homes from April 15, 2024, until April 17, 2024. There is no notice when this waiting list will reopen.

Please note: According to the RHA public notice, this waiting list is "0-BR apartments for 1-person families, located in Rhodes, Eisenhower & Hubert Apartments, Kennedy & Franklin Towers and Hensler Homes."

To apply while the waitlist was open, applicants were required to complete the online application.

This waiting list had the following preferences:

• Individuals and families who live in the City of Reading
• Families of which a household member is a service member or veteran

Selected applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery, weighed by order of preferences.

The Reading Housing Authority (RHA) last accepted Public Housing waiting list applications for apartments at Glenside and Oakbrook Homes from April 15, 2024, until April 17, 2024. There is no notice when this waiting list will reopen.

Please note: According to the RHA public notice, this waiting list is "for the following categories only: 1-2-3-4 Bedroom units located in Glenside and Oakbrook Homes and 5-Bedroom units located in Oakbrook Homes only. Applicant families must qualify for the bedroom size (1BR – 5BR) based upon occupancy standard of 1 bedroom per 2 persons, with limited exceptions."

There is no notice when this waiting list will reopen.

Please note: According to the RHA public notice, this waiting list is "1-BR apartments for 2-person families who are elderly (age 62+) or who have a disability (18+), located in Rhodes, Eisenhower & Hubert Apartments, Kennedy & Franklin Towers and Hensler Homes. Applicant families must qualify for the bedroom size (1BR – 5BR) based upon occupancy standard of 1 bedroom per 2 persons, with limited exceptions".
