Open: Tompkins Terrace Section 8 Project-Based Voucher

Please Note: Due to the decentralized nature of affordable housing information, the information about this waiting list may be out of date.

The City of Beacon Housing Authority (CBHA) is accepting Section 8 Project Based Voucher waiting list applications for Tomkins Terrace apartments from October 2, 2023 at 9:00 am ET, until further notice.

This waiting list is for the following property:

  • Tompkins Terrace- located at 194 Tompkins Ave, Beacon, NY 12508. Offering Studio, 1, 2, 3 and 4-bedroom units.

There are two ways to apply while the waitlist is open:

  1. Pick up an application at the CBHA main office, located at 1 Forrestal Heights, Beacon, NY 12508.
  2. Email reception@beaconhousing.org to request an application.

Once the paper application is completed, it must be either:

  1. Mailed to the CBHA main office, address mentioned above.
  2. Drop off at the CBHA lockbox, address mentioned above.

The maximum income limits for each household size are as follows:

  • 1 Person $41,650 | 5 Persons $64,300
  • 2 Persons $47,600 | 6 Persons $69,050
  • 3 Persons $53,550 | 7 Person $73,800
  • 4 Persons $59,500 | 8 Persons $78,550

Preferences have not yet been confirmed.

It is not yet known how selected applicants will be placed on the waiting list, by order of preferences.

Applicants who need help completing the application due to disability can make a reasonable accommodation request to the housing authority via (845) 831-1289.

IMPORTANT: This is not the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program. Section 8 Project-Based Voucher tenants are required to live in a specific apartment community or scattered site. After one year of occupancy, a Project-Based Voucher tenant may request to be placed on a waiting list to receive the next available Housing Choice Voucher or similar tenant-based rental assistance.

The Beacon Housing Authority is currently accepting public housing waiting list applications for families and senior/disabled individuals.This housing authority offers two apartment communities:1. Forrestal Heights offers 175 units, ranging from studio's to 5 bedrooms, for families and senior/disabled individuals2. Hamilton Fish Plaza offers 70 units, ranging from studio's to one bedrooms, this community is dedicated to senior/disabled individuals.There are two ways to apply for public housing:1. Request an application be emailed to you, by emailing: info@BeaconHousingAuthority.org.2. Visit the housing authority office to pick up an application, located at 1 Forrestal Heights, Beacon, NY 12508, Monday-Friday, between the hours of 8:00am until 3:30pm.Once the application has been completed, you must call the housing authority to schedule an interview to finish the application process, they can be reached at 845-831-1289, Monday-Friday, between the hours of 8:00am until 3:30pm. Be sure to have these original documents with you, at the time of your interview: birth certificates, social security cards, proof of all income, proof of veteran status if applicable, proof of domestic violence if applicable, and photo IDs for all adult household members.This housing authority does have a preference point system that may improve your spot on the waiting list: living/working in Beacon, veteran, displaced by a natural disaster, victim of domestic violence, disabled, or elderly.More information can be found by visiting the housing authority website at http://www.beaconhousingauthority.org/, or they can be reached with any questions you may have, by caling 845-831-1289, between the hours of 8:00am and 3:30pm, Monday-Friday.
