The Housing Authority of the City of East Orange (EOHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is closed.

The EOHA last accepted applications for this waiting list for one day only on July 1, 2022. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

To apply during the opening period, applicants were required to complete the online application.

This waiting list had the following preferences:

  • The EOHA has a “residency” preference for a family that includes a family member who lives, works or has been hired to work in East Orange, New Jersey. The preference cannot have the effect of disproportionately delaying or denying assistance to members of protected classes. A residency requirement is prohibited.
  • A family that includes an elderly or disabled member in the household not living in East Orange, New Jersey.
  • Families requiring relocation from EOHA public housing as a result of redevelopment. In addition, families requiring relocation from EOHA public housing due to an under-housed situation will receive this preference.
  • Families displaced by a government action or by a formally declared natural disaster

500 applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery, weighed by order of preferences.

Closed: Eaton Place Section 8 Voucher

The East Orange Housing Authority & Community Development Corporation (EOHCDC) last accepted Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications for Eaton Place from May 26, 2023, until the earliest confirmed date of June 12, 2023. There is no notice when this waiting list will reopen.

There were two ways to apply during the opening period:

  1. Print the paper application.
  2. Pick up an application from the EOHCDC office.

Once the paper application was completed, it was hand delivered to the EOHCDC office.

This waiting list had the following preferences:

  • City of East Orange Section 8 vouchers holders
  • Non-City of East Orange Section 8 voucher holders

Selected applicants were placed on the waiting list by date and time the application was received, by order of preferences.

The Housing Authority of the City of East Orange (EOHA) Near-Elderly (55+) or Disabled Public Housing waiting list for apartments at Concord Tower and Vista Village is currently closed.

Applications were last accepted from December 27, 2019, until 500 pre-applications for Concord Towers and 800 pre-applications for Vista Village were accepted.

  • Vista Village is an eight story building, located at 70 South Burnet Street, East Orange, New Jersey. This waiting list is for 0 and 1-Bedroom o units only (1 or 2 persons).

  • Concord Tower is an eight story building, located at 210 North Grove Street, East Orange, New Jersey. This waiting list is for 1-Bedroom only (1 or 2 persons).

To apply during the opening period, applicants were required to complete the online application.

Preferences have not yet been confirmed.

The East Orange Housing Authority (EOHA) last accepted Near Elderly and Homeless, Low-Income Housing Tax Credit waiting list for Halsted Plaza Senior Residence Apartments from April 22, 2024 until April 26, 2024. There is no notice when this waiting list will reopen.

This waiting list had the following preferences:

  • Homeless individuals (limited to 15)
  • Public Housing applicants (limited to 7)
  • Outside applicants wishing to move into the property
  • Current residents who need to transfer to a different unit

Selected applicants were placed on this waiting by date and time the application was received, by order of preferences.

There were two ways to apply while the waitlist was open:

  2. Pick up application in person at the EOHA office.
