The Carteret Housing Authority (CHA) is currently accepting public housing waiting list applications for elderly/disabled individuals.Please Note: The public housing waiting list for families is currently closed.The CHA offers two public housing communities with 252 units for families and senior/disabled individuals. To apply for public housing, you must visit the CHA to pick up an application, located at 96 Roosevelt Ave, Carteret, NJ 07008, between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:15 pm, Monday-Thursday; and on Friday between the hours of 8:30 am and 12:45 pm.Once the application has been completed, it must be hand delivered to the address listed above.Be sure to include these documents with your application: birth certificates, social security cards, photo IDs for all adult household members, proof of all income.The CHA does have a preference point system that may improve your spot on the waiting list: veteran, homeless, displaced, or live and/or work in Carteret.For more information the CHA can be reached by calling (732) 541-6800 during normal office hours Monday-Thursday and on Friday between the hours of 8:30 am and 12:45 pm.
