Open: Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Project-Based

The Omaha Housing Authority (OHA) waiting list for Low-Income Housing Tax Credit apartments is currently open. Applications are being accepted since at least August, 2021, until further notice.

To apply during the opening period, complete the application available online. Scroll down to the "How Do I Apply for Public Housing or Affordable Housing?" section, and select the "LIHTC Application" link.

Once the application has been completed, it must be emailed to application@ohauthority.org.

Closed: Omaha, Nebraska Section 8 Voucher

The Omaha Housing Authority (OHA) last accepted Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from August 8, 2023, until August 14, 2023.

There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

To apply while the waitlist was open, applicants were required to complete the online application.

This waiting list had the following preferences:

  • Families displaced by disaster
  • Families displaced due to domestic violence
  • Homeless families with children under 18 who are receiving supportive services (by verification from a MAACH agency)
  • All other homeless individuals and families (by verification from a MAACH agency)
  • Veterans wounded in the line of duty
  • Families of veterans deceased in the line of duty. Eligibility for this preference is available to families that include a spouse or child of a deceased veteran.
  • All other families that include a veteran (but excluding a veteran who was dishonorably discharged)
  • Elderly families (62 and older)
  • Disabled families

Selected applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery, weighed by order of preferences.

The Omaha Housing Authority (OHA) last accepted Public Housing waiting list applications from August 17, 2021, until June 1, 2024. There is no notice when this waiting list will reopen.

Preferences

This waiting list has the following preferences:

  • Displaced by government  action or disaster
    Families displaced by government action, condemnation, or disaster (fire, flood, storm, or natural disaster that is not due to the fault or negligence of the applicant or a household member.)
  • Working/elderly/disabled
    Person or families with at least one household member who is 62 years of age or older, disabled, or works a minimum of 28 hours week for at least 6 months prior to submitting the application.

Selection Process

It was not known how applicants were placed on the waiting list, by order of preferences.
