Open: Auburn Housing Authority Public Housing

The Auburn Housing Authority (AHA) is currently accepting Public Housing waiting list applications.

The AHA offers one Public Housing community with 47 1-bedroom units, and four two-bedroom units. Two bedroom units must house at least two residents.

Please note: This waiting list has preferences. This means that applicants who qualify for these preferences will receive assistance before applicants who do not. Because of these preferences, applicants who do not qualify may have a longer wait to receive assistance.

To apply, visit the AHA office to pick up an application, located at 1017 H St., Auburn, NE 68305, from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm CT, Monday-Friday. If the office is closed, applications can be found outside the office door in the bin.

Once the application has been completed, it can be:

  1. Mailed or hand delivered to the address listed above.
  2. Emailed to auburnhousing@windstream.net.
  3. Faxed to (402) 274-4946.

The following documentation is required once the application has been accepted: Copy of the applicant's Social Security Card and birth certificate; and signed authorization forms for a background check, income verification and medical cost verification (if disabled or 62+).

This waiting list has the following preferences: Elderly, and disabled.

Important note: Applicants who have been placed on the waiting list must inform the housing authority immediately if your application information changes (such as contact information, income, and household members). In the case that the office sends a notice that does not get returned, or if application information is out of date, your name may be terminated from the waiting list. Contact the housing authority to find out how to update application information.

For more information, call the AHA office at (402) 274-4525, from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm, Monday-Friday.
