Open: Maine Housing Choice Voucher Centralized

This housing authority participates in the Maine Centralized Section 8 HCV Waiting List, which is a partnership between all 20 housing authorities in Maine. Applicants submit one application to apply to a centralized waiting list. Selected applicants will be placed on the centralized waiting list, and will be under consideration for every participating housing authority.

The Maine Centralized Section 8 HCV Waiting List is currently open.

The Maine Centralized waiting list will accept applications from April 2013, until further notice.

There are four ways to apply:

  1. Complete the online application available here.
  2. Download and print the application online.
  3. Contact one of the participating housing authorities to request an application by mail. Contact information for all participating housing authorities can be found here.
  4. Pick up a pre-application at the office of a participating housing authority. Address information for all participating housing authorities can be found here.

Once the application has been completed, it can be mailed, faxed or submitted in person to any participating housing authority. Contact information for all participating housing authorities can be viewed here.

The waiting list will be sorted differently by each housing authority according to its own preferences.

Participating housing authorities may have any of the following preferences: Disabled, elderly, family with minor children or dependents, where you live, veteran, displaced by natural or national disaster, chronically homeless, at where you work, non-subsidized, local full-time student, working, non-elderly or disabled single person family, Tedford Shelter resident. The Housing Authority of the City of Old Town (HACOT) is currently accepting public housing waiting list applications for families and senior/disabled individuals.The HACOT offers two public housing communities for families and one public housing community dedicated to senior/disabled individuals.There are two ways to apply:1. Download the application here, then print and complete.2. Visit the HACOT to pick up an application, located at 358 Main St., P.O. Box 404, Old Town, ME 04468, during normal office hours.Once the application has been completed, it can be mailed or hand delivered to the address listed.Be sure to include copies of these documents with your application: birth certificates, social security cards, proof of all income, verification of assets, and photo IDs for all adult household members.The HACOT does not have a preference: Your application is placed by date and time received.More information can be found by visiting the HACOT website at http://www.oldtownhousing.net/, or by calling 207-827-6151 during normal office hours.
