Open: Slidell Housing Authority Public Housing

The Slidell Housing Authority (SHA) is currently accepting Public Housing waiting list pre-applications for families and senior/disabled households.Please note: Only the three bedroom waiting list is open for families.The SHA offers one Public Housing community with 125 units for families and senior/disabled households, ranging in size from 1 to 3 bedrooms.To apply, you must visit the SHA to submit a pre-application in person, located at 1250 Martin Luther King Drive, Slidell, LA 70458-4508, from 8:30 am until 12:05 pm, on Wednesdays only.No documents are needed at this time.The SHA does have a preference for: Veterans, and applicants living in substandard conditions.For more information, visit the SHA website, or call the office at (985)726-9000, from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm, Monday-Thursday, and every other Friday from 8:00 am until 1:30 pm. 

Reasonable Accommodation

Applicants who need help completing the application due to disability can make a reasonable accommodation request to the housing authority via (985)726-9000.

Closed: Slidell Housing Authority Section 8 Voucher

The Slidell Housing Authority (SHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed. It was last open for four days in July 2015. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.


There were two ways to apply:
1. Download the online application, then print and complete.


2. Pick up an application at the SHA.


Once the application has been completed, it must have been mailed to the SHA at:

Please note: Only applications postmarked between the open dates noted above will be accepted.


Faxed, emailed or hand-delivered applications were not be accepted.


The SHA has noted on its Craigslist public notice that there were a limited number of vouchers available. 


Qualified applicants were placed onto the waiting list by random lottery.
