Open: Monroe Housing Authority Public Housing

The Monroe Housing Authority (MHA) is accepting Public Housing waiting list applications for Multiple Apartments since at least December, 2017, until further notice.

There are four ways to apply while the waitlist is open:

  1. Complete the online application.
  2. Pick up an application at one of the communities. Location information can be found here.
  3. Pick up an application at the MHA Annex Building, located at 210 Harrison Street, Monroe, LA 71201, from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm CT, Monday-Friday.
  4. Call the MHA at (318) 388-1500 to request an application by mail.

Once the paper application has been completed, it must be: Mailed or hand delivered to the MHA, address mentioned above.

This waiting list has the following preferences:

  • Families displaced by natural disaster
  • Families displaced by government action
  • Applicant is a veteran or spouse of a veteran
  • Applicant is a victim of domestic abuse

The Monroe Housing Authority (MHA) last accepted Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from February 5, 2024, until February 7, 2024. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

To apply while the waiting list was open, applicants were required to complete the online application.

There were no preferences.

Selected applicants were placed on the waiting list by date and time the application is received.

The MHA last accepted applications for this waiting list from August 28, 2022, until August 31, 2022. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

To apply during the opening period, applicants were required to complete the online application.

This waiting list had the following preferences:

  • Elderly or disable Head or Co-head
  • Enrolled in educational or training program
  • Modernization moveout moving back in
  • Resides or Employed in Monroe
  • Victim of Domestic Violence
  • Victim of reprisals or hate crimes
  • Working: Head or co-head, 20+hrs, > 6 months
  • Involuntary Displacement (Disaster, Govt Action)
  • Veterans or surviving spouse

Selected applicants were placed on the waiting list by date and time the application is received, weighed by order of preferences.
