The Terre Haute Housing Authority is currently accepting public housing waiting list applications for families and senior/disabled individuals.This housing authority offers 575 units dedicated to senior/disabled individuals, and 460 units for families.To apply for public housing an application can be picked up by visiting the housing authority, located at 2001 North 19th St., Terre Haute, IN 47804, during normal office hours Monday-Friday.Once the application has been completed it can be mailed or hand delivered to the address listed above. Be sure to include copies of these documents with your application: birth certificates, social security cards, photo IDs for all adult household members, landlord references, and proof of any residence for the past five years.This housing authority does have a preference point system that may improve your spot on the waiting list: victim of domestic violence, homeless, displaced by a natural disaster, or live and/or work in Vigo County.More information can be found by visiting the housing authority website at http://www.terrehautehousing.org/, or they can be reached with any questions you may have by calling 812-232-1381, during normal office hours.

Closed: Terre Haute Housing Authority Section 8 Voucher

The Terre Haute Housing Authority (THHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed. It was last open from August 15, 2013 until July 2016. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.


Please note: This waiting list has preferences. This means that applicants who qualify for these preferences will receive assistance before applicants who do not. Because of these preferences, applicants who do not qualify may have a longer wait to receive assistance.



To apply during the opening period, applicants were required to pick up an application at the THHA office.


Once the application has been completed, it must have been mailed or hand delivered to the THHA office.


This waiting list has the following preferences: Victims of domestic violence, homeless, local residency. Further explanation of each preference can be found here.


Applicants were placed on the waiting list by date and time the application was received.


Important note: Applicants who have been placed on the waiting list must inform the housing authority immediately if your application information changes (such as contact information, income, and household members). In the case that the office sends a notice that does not get returned, or if application information is out of date, your name may be terminated from the waiting list.

Closed: Vigo County, Indiana Section 8 Voucher

The Terre Haute Housing Authority (THHA) last accepted Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from the earliest confirmed open date of May 30, 2023, until June 30, 2023. There is no notice when this waiting list will reopen.

Please note: According to the THHA notice "THHA will cease handing out HCV applications on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 4:00pm."

To apply during the opening period, applicants were required to pick up an application in person at the THHA office.

Once the paper application was completed, it was to be: Returned to the THHA office.

Preferences have not been confirmed.

It was not known how applicants were placed on the waiting list, by order of preferences.
