Closed: Jonesboro and Clayton County, Georgia Section 8 Voucher

The Jonesboro Housing Authority (JHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed. Applications were last accepted from April 19, 2021 until April 22, 2021. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

To apply during the opening period, applicants were required to complete the online application.

This waiting list had the following preferences: 

• Public Housing Residents who are required to relocate because of modernization work, or whose unit is determined to be a health and safety hazard due to the presence of mold or asbestos contaminants, or whose unit is uninhabitable due to fire, flood, or storm damage.
• Victims of Domestic Violence.
• Elderly and/or Disabled Residents of Clayton County.
• Applicants with an adult member who either lives in, works in, or has been hired to work in Clayton County.
• Elderly and /or Disabled non-residents of Clayton County.
• Working Families who are non-residents of or are not employed in Clayton County.
• All other applicants who are residents of Clayton County; and H. All other applicants who are non-residents of Clayton County.

2,500 applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery, weighed by order of preferences.

The JHA application portal said, "The Lottery Results will be posted sometime in May 2021, please do not call HACJ offices to inquire about your status.  You will be able to check the status of your pre-application to see whether you were selected or not by visiting www.waitlistcheck.com."

The Jonesboro Housing Authority Public Housing waiting list for 1, 3, and 4-Bedroom apartments is closed.

The JHA last accepted applications for this waiting list from March 30, 2022, until an unconfirmed date in April, 2022. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

To apply during the opening period, applicants were required to print the paper application.

Once the application was completed, it was returned to the JHA.

Preferences have not yet been confirmed.

25 applicants were placed each bedroom size waiting list by date and time the application is received.
