Open: Multiple Properties Section 8 Project-Based Voucher

The Georgia Department of Community Affairs Section 8 Project-Based Voucher waiting list for apartments at Hearthstone Landing, Pine Ridge Apartments, The Pines Family Campus, College Square Apartments, Henry Way, Georgia Wallace and the Millennium Center is currently open

The GDCA is accepting applications for this waiting list from April 6, 2022 at 12:00 am, until further notice.

This waiting list is for the following properties:

  • Hearthstone Apartments, located in Cherokee County, Canton, GA. This complex is for battered and abused women. Cherokee Family Violence Center assist the women with their transition.
  • Pine Ridge Apartments located in Floyd County, Rome, GA. This complex is for persons with disabilities and mentally challenged They are referred by Highlands and are transitioning from Clinical Facilities to housing. There is a counselor/advisor and nurse on staff 24 hours a day.
  • The Pines Family Campus, located in Valdosta, GA. This complex is to help women at risk primarily because of homelessness, domestic violence, and drug abuse in the transition to a stable productive life. Clients are referred by state courts, DFCS, area participating churches, The Haven (women’s shelter) throughout a 10-county area.
  • The Millennium Center, located in Randolph County, Cuthbert, GA. This complex is for women who have substance abuse problems (Drugs/Alcohol) Volunteers of America (VOA) manages and operates the program. Referrals are received from other Social Service agencies, Law Enforcement agencies, word of mouth, web-site with VOA, etc. Counselors/advisors/nurse on staff during normal working hours; On-call staff and security provided all other times.
  • College Square, located in Peach County, Fort Valley, GA. This complex is for low-income disabled residents.
  • Georgia Wallace, located in Pulaski County, Hawkinsville, GA. This complex is for low-income residents.
  • Henry Way, located in Pulaski County, Hawkinsville, GA. This complex is for low-income residents.

Preferences have not yet been confirmed.

It is not known how applicants will be placed on the waiting list.

This waiting list is for Section 8 Project-Based Voucher rental assistance in Cherokee, Floyd, Lowndes, Peach, Pulaski and Randolph County, Georgia.

Reasonable Accommodation

Applicants who need help completing the application due to disability can make a reasonable accommodation request to the housing authority via (404) 679-4840.

IMPORTANT: This is not the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program. Section 8 Project-Based Voucher tenants are required to live in a specific apartment community or scattered site. After one year of occupancy, a Project-Based Voucher tenant may request to be placed on a waiting list to receive the next available Housing Choice Voucher or similar tenant-based rental assistance.

Closed: State of Georgia Section 8 Voucher

The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) last accepted Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from October 17, 2023, until October 20, 2023. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

To apply while the waiting list was open, applicants were required to complete the online application.

There were preferences, and they were listed on the application.

5,000 applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery, weighed by order of preferences.
