Open: Freedom’s Path Apartments I and II Veteran Section 8 Project-Based Voucher

The Augusta Housing Authority (AHA) is accepting Veteran Section 8 Project-Based Voucher waiting list applications at Freedom’s Path Apartments I and II from February 8, 2018 at 9:00 am ET, until further notice.

Please note: According to the AHA, Freedom's Path Apartments I and II offer "essential supportive services to assist homeless, disabled, and at-risk veterans to move successfully from instability to self-sufficiency." Applicants must be a veteran to apply.

There are two ways to apply while the waitlist is open:

  1. Persons who have not applied for any AHA housing online can complete the online application.
  2. Persons who have previously applied for any AHA housing online can complete the online application.

This waiting list has the following preferences: Paying more than 50% of income for rent and utilities (rent burdened), homeless, living in substandard housing, involuntarily displaced because of government or other action.

Reasonable Accommodation

Applicants who need help completing the application due to disability can make a reasonable accommodation request to the housing authority via (706) 312-3110, or TDD (706) 724-0130.

IMPORTANT: This is not the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program. Section 8 Project-Based Voucher tenants are required to live in a specific apartment community or scattered site. After one year of occupancy, a Project-Based Voucher tenant may request to be placed on a waiting list to receive the next available Housing Choice Voucher or similar tenant-based rental assistance.

Open: Hope House Section 8 Project-Based Voucher

The Augusta Housing Authority (AHA) is accepting Limited Section 8 Project-Based Voucher waiting list applications at Hope House from the earliest confirmed open date of November, 2018, until further notice.

Please note: According to the AHA, Hope House "serves women 18 years and older who suffer from the disease of substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders. Hope House serves three populations of women: homeless single women, pregnant women, and women with children, many who are seeking to regain custody of their children.

There are two ways to apply during the opening period:

  1. Persons who have not applied for any AHA housing online can complete the online application.
  2. Persons who have previously applied for any AHA housing online can complete the online application.

Open: Conventional Senior Public Housing

The Augusta Housing Authority (AHA) is accepting Elderly Conventional Public Housing waiting list applications from June 22, 2020 at 9:00 am ET, until further notice.

Please note: Qualifications for elderly units requires that all family members be at least 50 years old.

To apply while the waitlist is open, complete the online application that is available here.

Preferences have not yet been confirmed.

Selected applicants will be placed on the waiting list by date and time the application is received, weighed by order of preferences and bedroom size.

The Augusta Housing Authority (AHA) last accepted Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from January 2, 2024, until January 5, 2024.  This waiting list was last open in October, 2020. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

To apply while the waiting list was open, applicants were required to complete the online application.

This waiting list had the following preferences:

  • Local residents living within 25 miles of Augusta, GA.
  • Paying more than 50% of family income for rent and utilities.
  • Homeless or living in substandard housing.
  • Involuntarily displaced because of government or other action. 

Selected applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery, weighed by order of preferences.
