Closed: Charlotte County, Florida Section 8 Voucher

The Punta Gorda Housing Authority (PGHA) last accepted Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from January 31, 2024, until February 21, 2024. This waiting list was last open in May, 2022. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

There were two ways to apply while the waiting list was open:

  1. Print the paper application.
  2. Pick up an application from the Punta Gorda Housing Authority Administration Office.

Once the application was completed, it was either:

  1. Postmarked by February 21, 2024 and mailed to the PGHA.
  2. Faxed to the PGHA.

This waiting list had the following preferences:

  • Applicants who live, work or have been hired to work in the Punta Gorda Housing Authority’s jurisdiction (Charlotte County, City of North Port).
  • Applicants whose head, co-head, spouse or sole member has verifiable employment prior to admission at a minimum of 20 hours per week. Applicants whose head, co-head, or spouse or sole member is age 62 or older, or meets HUD definition of a disabled person will be eligible for the working preference

It was not known how applicants will be placed on the waiting list, by order of preferences.
