Closed: Kent and Sussex County, Delaware Section 8 Voucher

The Delaware State Housing Authority (DSHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is closed.

The DSHA last accepted Section 8 HCV applications for this waiting list from the earliest confirmed date of May 1, 2018, until March 18, 2022. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

Please note: Program participants, except the elderly or disabled, must also be enrolled in the Moving to Work (MTW) program.

There were four ways to apply during the opening period:

  1. Complete the online application.
  2. Call the DSHA to request an application by mail.
  3. Pick up an application at the DSHA waiting list office..
  4. Print the paper application.

Once the paper application was completed, it was either emailed, mailed or faxed to the DSHA. Any applications received after March 18, 2022 will be returned.

This waiting list had the following preferences:

  • Live or work in Kent or Sussex County.
  • Working more than 20 hours per week. 
  • Veteran.
  • Head of household and spouse/co-head have never participated in the Moving to Work Program.

Selected applicants were placed on the waiting list by date and time the application is received, weighed by order of preferences.

The DSHA last accepted applications for this waiting list from the earliest confirmed date of March 9, 2022, until March 18, 2022. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

To apply during the opening period, applicants were required to complete the online application.

Once the paper application was completed, it was emailed, mailed or faxed to the DSHA. Any applications received after March 18, 2022 will be returned.

Preferences have not yet been confirmed.

It was not known how applicants will be placed on the waiting list.
