Open Soon: North Bay, California, 3-Bedroom Section 8 Project-Based Voucher

The Sonoma County Housing Authority (SCHA) will accept Section 8 Project-Based Voucher waiting list applications for 3-Bedroom apartments at Multiple Properties from July 1, 2024 at 12:00 am, until July 31, 2024 at 11:59 pm PT. This is the first time the waiting list has been open since it closed in September, 2021.

This waiting list is for the following properties:

  • Alta Madrone Apartments - located at 1269 Broadway, Sonoma, CA 95476.
  • Fetters Apartments - located at 200 Dorene Wy, Sonoma, CA 95476.
  • Logan Place - located at 1200 Petaluma Blvd N, Petaluma, CA 94952.
  • Crossroads Apartments - located at 841 Liana Dr, Santa Rosa, CA 95407.
  • Fife Creek Commons - located at 16376 5th St, Guerneville, CA 95446.
  • Windsor Redwoods Apartments - located at 100 Kendall Way, Windsor, CA 95492.
  • The Randall Apartments - located at 111 Saw Ml Cir, Healdsburg, CA 95448.

  • Persons with disabilities
  • Seniors (62+ years of age)

Selection Process

It is not known how applicants will be placed on the waiting list, by order of preferences.

Application Method

There are two ways to apply while the waitlist is open:

  1. Complete the online application.
  2. Complete an application in person at the SCHA office, located at 1440 Guerneville Road in Santa Rosa, CA. Monday - Friday, from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm.

IMPORTANT: This is not the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program. Section 8 Project-Based Voucher tenants are required to live in a specific apartment community or scattered site. After one year of occupancy, a Project-Based Voucher tenant may request to be placed on a waiting list to receive the next available Housing Choice Voucher or similar tenant-based rental assistance.

Closed: Sonoma County, California Section 8 Voucher

The Sonoma County Housing Authority (SCHA) last accepted Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from October 1, 2023, until October 31, 2023. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

There were two ways to apply while the waiting list was open:

  1. Complete the online application.
  2. Complete the application in person at the SCHA office.

Preferences have not yet been confirmed.

750 applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery.

Closed: Altamira Family Apartments Section 8 Project-Based Voucher

The Sonoma County Community Development Commission (SCCDC) Section 8 Project-Based Voucher waiting list for apartments at Altamira Family Apartments is currently closed. Applications were last accepted from November 16, 2020 until December 18, 2020. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

  • Altamira Family Apartments in Sonoma, CA has 1, 2 and 3-Bedroom Units

There were two ways to apply during the opening period:

  1. Complete the online application.
  2. Call SCCDC to request a paper application.

Please note: According to SCCDC  "One-bedroom waitlists are for households consisting of one to four persons. Two bedroom waitlists are for households consisting of two to six persons. Three bedroom waitlists are for households consisting of three to eight persons"

This waiting list had the following preferences:

  • Persons with disabilities
  • Seniors (62+ years of age)

Applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery, weighed by order of preferences. The one-bedroom waitlists will be limited to no more than 300 applicants, the two-bedroom waitlist will be limited to no more than 150 applicants and the three-bedroom waitlist will be limited to no more than 100 applicants.

The SCHA last accepted applications for this waiting list from May 23, 2022, until July 1, 2022, or until 300 applications were received for each waiting list. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

  • Petaluma River Apartments, Petaluma (1 Bedroom Units)
  • Mill District Apartments, Healdsburg (1, 2 and 3 Bedroom Units)

Please note: According to the SCHA public notice, "A separate application is required for each waitlist."

There were three ways to apply during the opening period: 

  1. Complete the online application.
  2. Call the SCHA to request an application.
  3. Print the paper application.

Once the application was completed, it was dropped off at the SCHA office.

This waiting list had the following preferences:

  • Persons with disabilities
  • Seniors (62+ years of age)

Selected applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery, weighed by order of preferences.
