Please note: According to the OCHA public notice, this waiting list is for "twenty-one (21) units will be given to applicants aged 62 and older, who are experiencing homelessness, eligible for services under the Special Needs Housing Program, No Place Like Home, and referred by the Orange County Coordinated Entry System (CES) to OCHA.  Admission preference for the remaining twelve (12) units will be given to applicants aged 62 and older and are experiencing homelessness."

The Orange County Housing Authority (OCHA) last accepted Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher applications from September 18, 2023, until September 29, 2023. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

There were two ways to apply while the waiting list was open:

  1. Complete the online application.
  2. Print the paper application.

Once the application was completed, it was either:

  1. Postmarked before September 29, 2023, and mailed to the OCHA.
  2. Emailed to the OCHA.

The maximum income limits for each household size were as follows:

  • 1 Person $50,250 | 5 Persons $77,500
  • 2 Persons $57,400 | 6 Persons $83,250
  • 3 Persons $64,600 | 7 Persons $89,000
  • 4 Persons $71,750 | 8 Persons $94,750

This waiting list had the following preferences:

  • Living or working in OCHA’s jurisdiction, OCHA’s jurisdiction includes all cities and unincorporated areas of Orange County except for the cities of Anaheim, Garden Grove and Santa Ana
  • U.S. Veterans
  • Elderly
  • Disabled
  • Working families
  • Non-working families

12,000 applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery, weighed by order of preferences.
