The Marin Housing Authority (MHA) is accepting Senior Section 8 Project-Based Voucher waiting list applications for 1-Bedroom apartments at Maria B. Freitas Senior Community from June 4, 2024, until August 6, 2024.

This waiting list is for the following property:

  • Maria B. Freitas Senior Community- located at 455 Manuel T Freitas Pkwy, San Rafael, CA 94903. Offering 1-Bedroom units.

Please note: According to the MHA, "This Project is for seniors only and the minimum age requirement is 62 years of age."

Freitas Pkwy, San Rafael, CA 94903. 9:00 am until 4:30 pm (closed for lunch between 12:00pm - 1:00pm) Monday - Thursday and 9:00am until 1:30pm (closed for lunch between 1:30pm - 2:30pm) on Friday.

Once the application has been completed, it must be either:

  1. Turned into the Maria B Freitas office, address mentioned above.
  2. Mailed to the Maria B Freitas office, address mentioned above and post marked by August 6, 2024.

The Marin Housing Authority (MHA) is accepting Senior and Disabled Public Housing waiting list applications for Studio Apartments at Casa Nova, Golden Hinde, Venetia Oaks, Kruger Pines and Homestead Terrace from June 27, 2024 at 10:00 am, until July 11, 2024 at 11:59 pm PT. This is the first time the waiting list has been open since it closed in May, 2023.

This waiting list is for the following properties:

  • Casa Nova - located at 35 Carmel Drive, Novato, CA 94945.
  • Golden Hinde - located at 5 Golden Hinde, San Rafael, CA 94903.
  • Venetia Oaks - located at 263 N. San Pedro Drive, San Rafael, CA 94903.
  • Kruger Pines - located at 47 Knoll Road, Mill Valley, CA 94941.
  • Homestead Terrace - located at 100-140 Linden Lane, Mill Valley, CA 94941.

Income Qualification

The maximum income limits for each household size are as follows:

  • 1 Person $109,700
  • 2 Persons $125,350 
  • 3 Persons $141,000

  • Homeless (Coordinated Entry) (10 Points)

The Housing Authority for the County of Marin (HACM) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program accepts a maximum of 50 applications a year for chronic homeless applicants is currently open until further notice.

Please note: According to the HACM, "The [Marin County Coordinated Entry (CE) provider] has adopted a 'Housing First' model which requires the applicant to have on-going case management with the County of Marin Health and Human Services."

To apply, referrals must be made from the Marin County Coordinated Entry (CE) provider at (415) 491-2574.

Open: Involuntarily Displaced Section 8 Voucher

The Housing Authority for the County of Marin (HACM) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program accepts a maximum number of applications a year for involuntarily displaced applicants.

Please note: A maximum of 15 applicants a year are accepted for Victims of Domestic Violence; a maximum of 15 applicants a year are accepted for Victims of a Natural Disaster; a maximum of 5 applicants a year are accepted for State or Federal Witness Protection; and a maximum of 5 applicants a year are accepted for Eminent Domain.

To apply for Victims of Domestic Violence placement, referrals must be made from CalWORKS at (877) 410-8817, or Center for Domestic Peace at (415) 924-6616.

To apply for Victims of a Natural Disaster placement, referrals must be made from the American Red Cross at (800) 733-2767.

It is not known how to apply for State or Federal Witness Protection or Eminent Domain placement.

Open: 1251 S. Eliseo Drive, Permanent Supportive Housing Section 8 Project-Based Voucher

The Marin Housing Authority (MHA) is accepting Permanent Supportive Housing Section 8 Project-Based Voucher waiting list applications for apartments at 1251 South Eliseo Drive from June 20, 2023 at 10:00 am PT, until further notice.

Please note: According to the MHA notice "1251 S. Eliseo Drive is a recently renovated property with 43 units of Permanent Supportive Housing for persons who are chronically homeless, funded by the State of California Homekey Program. Applicants must meet both the Homeless Target Population and the Chronic Homelessness definition to be eligible. Sixteen of the units are further reserved for chronically homeless individuals with Serious Mental Illness receiving services through Marin's Behavioral Health and Recovery Services. This project will be filled through Marin's Coordinated Entry system. Coordinated Entry is a process for streamlining referrals to, prioritizing, and assigning homeless housing resources."

There are two ways to apply during the opening period:

  1. Send an email to ce@marincounty.org to self-refer for Coordinated Entry.
  2. Fill out the form at Housing First County of Marin to request an assessment.

Please note:  According to the MHA notice "If you have already completed an assessment with Marin Coordinated Entry you do not need to complete an additional assessment to be considered for this property."
