Open: Housing Authority of the City of Long Beach Section 8 Project-Based Voucher

The Housing Authority of the City of Long Beach (HACLB) is currently accepting Section 8 Project-Based Voucher waiting list applications for senior, veteran, disabled & homeless, and emancipated foster youth households.

To apply, complete the online application. American Gold Star Manor is for veterans, seniors (62+) and Gold Star Mothers (62+). Cabrillo Gateway is for homeless and disabled households by referral only. Long beach & 21st is for seniors (55+). Palace Apartments if for foster youths (18-23) in transition by referral only.

Reasonable Accommodation

Applicants who need help completing the application due to disability can make a reasonable accommodation request to the housing authority via 5625706985.

IMPORTANT: This is not the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program. Section 8 Project-Based Voucher tenants are required to live in a specific apartment community or scattered site. After one year of occupancy, a Project-Based Voucher tenant may request to be placed on a waiting list to receive the next available Housing Choice Voucher or similar tenant-based rental assistance.

Open: Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) Project-Based

The Housing Authority of the City of Long Beach (HACLB) Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) waiting list is currently open, from April 1, 2019 at 12:01 am PT, until further notice. 

Please note: HOPWA is a rental assistance program that allows eligible low income families and individuals, with a confirmed diagnosis, with HIV/AIDS, to lease privately owned market rate housing units.

To apply, complete the online application.

Preferences have not yet been confirmed.

It is not known, how applicants will be placed on the waiting list.

Closed: Housing Authority of the City of Long Beach Section 8 Voucher

The Housing Authority of the City of Long Beach (HACLB) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher is currently closed. It was last open for two weeks in June 2016, and before that in 2003.

 

To apply during the opening period, applicants were required to complete the online application.

 

Applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery.
