Open: Anaheim, California Mainstream Voucher

The Anaheim Housing Authority (AHA) is accepting Mainstream Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from December 2, 2019, until further notice.

Please note: According to the AHA, "To qualify for the mainstream preference, a household member must satisfy all three eligibility criteria: (1) must be between 18 to 61 years old, (2) must be disabled, and (3) must currently be transitioning out of an institutional or other segregated setting, at serious risk of institutionalization, homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless. In order to apply, you must attach verification that you or a member of your household meets all three of the above criteria. Applications without the required documentation attached will be returned to you."

To apply during the opening period, mail a written request to receive an application by mail to the Anaheim Housing Authority at 201 S. Anaheim Blvd., Suite 201, Anaheim, CA 92805.

Once the application has been completed, it must be submitted in person to the Anaheim Housing Authority office located at 201 S. Anaheim Blvd., Suite 201, Anaheim, CA 92805.

This waiting list has the following preferences:

Live or work in the city of Anaheim.
Veteran or current members of the American armed forces and the widowed spouses of veterans.

Selected applicants will be placed on the waiting list by date and time the application is received, weighed by order of preferences.

The Anaheim Housing Authority (AHA) Section 8 Project-Based Voucher waiting list for studio apartments at Buena Esperanza is currently open on a limited basis. Applications are being accepted from April 8, 2021, until further notice.

Buena Esperanza is located at 2691 W La Palma Ave, Anaheim, CA 92801 and offers furnished studio units to for 1-2 person families.

Please note: According to the AHA public notice, "This waiting list will be opened to individuals who are chronically homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Eligible applicants will be referred by the Orange County Coordinated Entry System (CES)."

The Anaheim Housing Authority Section 8 Project-Based Voucher waiting list for 1 and 2-Bedroom apartments at Finamore Place is currently open by referral only.

The AHA is accepting applications for this waiting list from March 24th, 2022, until further notice.

Please note: According to the AHA, "This waiting list will be opened solely for the following preferences:

Households that qualify as homeless, and are enrolled and in good standing with the Homeless Assistance Program (HAP), Chronically Homeless Individuals Pilot Program (CHIPP), or other City sponsored program and referred to the waiting list by the service provider.
Households that qualify as homeless and are referred by Anaheim City funded Emergency Shelter homeless service providers.
Households that qualify as homeless and are referred by other homeless service providers. Additional preference will be given to those within each of the above categories who qualify for the Live or Work in Anaheim (Residency) preference or are a U.S. veterans."

Finamore Place is located at 915 E. Orangewood Avenue Anaheim, CA 92802 and offers 1 and 2 bedroom units for 1 to 4 person households. The development features the following amenities: improved recreational and leisure space, swimming pool, clubhouse, BBQ areas, roof deck, and community garden.

To apply during the opening period, applicants must be referred by service providers. If an applicant is homeless and is not currently working with a service provider, call 2-1-1 to be connected to a service provider that may give a reference. There will be no onsite intake center for those experiencing homelessness.

This waiting list has the following preferences:

Households that qualify as homeless, and are enrolled and in good standing with the Homeless Assistance Program (HAP), Chronically Homeless Individuals Pilot Program (CHIPP), or other City sponsored program and referred to the waiting list by the service provider.

The Anaheim Housing Authority (AHA) is accepting Section 8 Project-Based Voucher waiting list applications by referral only for Salvation Army Ahaheim Center of Hope from April 21, 2023 until further notice.

Please note: According to the AHA, "Referrals will only be accepted from the Orange County Coordinated Entry System."

The Center of Hope PBV project is located at 1340 S. Lewis Street in Anaheim, CA 92805 and offers studio units.

To apply during the opening period, applicants must be referred by the Orange County Coordinated Entry System (CES). The Anaheim Housing Authority (AHA) Affordable Rental Housing Program interest list is currently open on a limited basis, since at least March, 2018, until further notice.

Please note:

According to the AHA, "Enrollees must live and/or work in the City of Anaheim."
According to the AHA, "The City has agreements with owners of specific units to keep rent levels below regular market rates...This is not a rental assistance program."
The AHA Affordable Rental Housing Program offers Family, Senior and Special Needs units.

There are two ways to apply during the opening period:

Closed: Anaheim, California Section 8 Voucher

The Anaheim Housing Authority (AHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is closed.

The AHA last accepted applications for this waiting list from March 6, 2023, until April 14, 2023. There is no notice when this waiting list will reopen.

To apply during the opening period, applicants were required to complete the online application.

This waiting list had the following preferences:

Special Needs Populations
- For up to 172 vouchers, preference will be granted to non-elderly disabled persons that are transitioning out of institutional or other segregated settings or are homeless. These vouchers were granted through 2017 Mainstream Voucher Program NOFA and 2020 CARES Act allocations). Applicants who live or work in the City of Anaheim will be given priority under this preference.
- The PHA will commit up to 50% of annual new admission vouchers to assist Anaheim-based families who are either:
  - Homeless and referred by an approved local service provider because they are participating in a local transitional housing program or are receiving other supportive and shelter services from that provider. Providers may be required to verify that applicants had ties to Anaheim prior to entering the shelter and commit to providing appropriate services to the client; or
  - Participating in a city-funded homeless or at risk of becoming homeless program and have been referred by the connected service agency.
- Families who are being terminated from the Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) program, due to the qualifying member being deceased.
Families who live or work in the City of Anaheim and are referred by Anaheim Police Department. These types of referrals will be limited to victims of a crime, the magnitude or impact of which requires rapid relocation. Referrals must be made in writing on Anaheim Police Department letterhead, and signed by the Chief or Deputy Chief of Police only. Eligibility, including background checks will be confirmed for all members. All referrals are subject to the approval of the Executive Director or designee.
Eligible families who are displaced as a result of a project sponsored by the City of Anaheim Community Development Department or other City of Anaheim Department.
Any family that has been terminated from the City of Anaheim HCV program due to insufficient program funding.
Families who live, work, or have been hired to work in Anaheim (Residency preference).

Selected applicants were placed on the waiting list by date and time the application is received, weighed by order of preferences.
