Open: Anniston Housing Authority Public Housing

The Anniston Housing Authority (AHA) is accepting Public Housing waiting list applications for apartments at Washington Homes, Parkwin Homes, Norwood Homes, Fairview Homes, Constantine Homes, Tinsley Manor and Hobson City Apartments from the earliest confirmed open date of January 17, 2023, until further notice. 

Please note: According to the AHA "Effective Tuesday, May 16, 2023, the Anniston Housing Authority will close the one-bedroom waiting lists for all public housing properties due to high demand. The waiting lists will stay closed until further noticePlease note applicants who only qualify for one-bedroom units are not eligible for any other bedroom size."

To apply while the waitlist is open, complete the online application

This waiting list has the following preferences:

  • Displaced by Government Action or Presidentially Declared Disaster (i.e. involuntary relocation by HA, natural disasters)
  • Victim of Domestic Violence
  • Working person/family
  • Elderly, or Disabled person/family
  • Education/Training (i.e. colleges, jobs program or any self-sufficiency program)

Selected applicants will be placed on the waiting list by date and time the application is received, weighed by order of preferences.

Closed: Anniston, Alabama Section 8 Voucher

The Anniston Housing Authority (AHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed. Applications were last accepted from September 14, 2020, until September 18, 2020. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

To apply during the opening time, applicants were required to pick up an application from one of the following locations:

  1. Anniston Housing Authority Main Office.
  2. Anniston Housing Authority Norwood Management office.
  3. Anniston Housing Authority Constantine Management office (EnVision Center).

Once the application was completed, the AHA made this statement on how it must be submitted, "applications are to be returned via the United States Postal Service in a prepaid envelope that we will provide for you. All applications must be post marked on or before September 25, 2020 in order to be added to the waiting list."

Preferences have not yet been confirmed.

It is not known how applicants were placed on the waiting list.
